About this site
Altered.Works - Intelligence Briefings is a publication of Altered Principles BV in Ghent. We write for the people who run physical-goods businesses — and we hold our reads accountable after we publish.
What this is.
Most market commentary optimises for being first, not for being right two quarters later. We do the opposite. Each Briefing names one structural pattern behind a market move and is free to read. The Capability Brief behind it does the work that justifies the claim — peer sets, revenue-shape models, financial-period reads. And every Brief ends with testable claims that go onto the public Monitor, where we re-rate them each quarter.
The name is the method. Altered Principles looks at how a capability — a sensor, a network, a contract shape — quietly changes the rules of a market before the market notices. Our house visual language reflects it: real industrial photography, altered toward a single treatment, so the imagery itself signals what we do.
We are independent. We take no positions in the companies we write about, and we do not run sponsored coverage.
One desk, no churn.
Altered.Works - Intelligence Briefings is written from a single editorial desk. That is deliberate: a consistent eye matters more than volume when the product is judgement. The editor has spent two decades close to industrial, machine-vision, and logistics businesses — operating in them, advising them, and watching the same patterns repeat under new names.

How we hold the line.
Four commitments keep the publication honest. They are also why the Monitor exists — a public record of whether we were right.
Capability over narrative
We start from what a thing can now do, not from the story being told about it.
Testable claims only
Every read ends with something that can be proven wrong, with a date attached.
Accountable after publishing
We re-rate our claims each quarter in public. Resolved means resolved — right or wrong.
Independent by design
No positions, no sponsored coverage, no fixed cadence. We ship when the work is done.
Commission a brief, or just say hello.
Private capability reads, team plans, and editorial enquiries. We reply to everything that isn't a pitch.
