Client
My own venture, built with a Belgian painting contractor.
Starting point
A painting contractor in Belgium asked for a faster way to quote. Today a painter measures on site with a laser and a notepad, types the numbers into a spreadsheet, applies the billing rules from memory and sends the quote days later. The measuring is the smallest part of the work; the transcription, the rules and the delay are what lose jobs and money.
Target
Site to sent quote in under 30 minutes, against one to three days today.
What I did
I mapped how a quote gets made on site, wrote the business model and the billing rules, and built the platform AI-native.
Business process: how a quote really gets made
Site walk, numbers on a notepad, rules applied from memory, the quote days later. I turned that into one canonical measurement and billing rules where every square metre shows its working, so a disputed number can be defended.
Digital platform: a product a painter can pay for
An iPhone and iPad app that works offline, issues the quote and measurement record, and hands a package to the office. The subscription model, with three free quotes, is designed into the product from the start.
AI: built AI-native, written down
On-device LiDAR and camera measurement, and a written spec for every feature: the knowledge base the next team builds on. When the line scales, a product studio takes the platform over, with nothing left in my head.
Result
The 30-minute target is not yet a measured result.
Who owns it
I do: the app sits under Altered Principles. It is here because it shows the three disciplines every new business line needs (the business process, the digital platform and the AI that runs it) on a launch I own end to end.
